01 · LEARN

Understand the principle

Authentication is the set of controls that proves you are the person accessing an account. Use a strong, unique password and multi-factor authentication where available. Treat verification codes and approval prompts as secrets or security decisions, never as proof that a caller or message is genuine.

03 · VERIFY

Verify what matters

Practise recognising authentication requests and codes that should never be disclosed or approved blindly.

Use an independent method
  • Open the service's official app or website directly to review MFA settings; never use a verification code or approval request as proof that the person contacting you is legitimate.

06 · REASSESS

Come back and measure progress

After improving the habit, reassess it. The goal is not one perfect session; it is a safer pattern that holds up over time.

Reassess your security →
Keep the loop moving.
