PRIVACY

Your information deserves protection.

We collect information responsibly, protect what we collect and avoid asking you for information that could put you at greater risk.

Privacy is part of security.

This Privacy Policy explains how VERIFY BEFORE YOU TRUST handles personal information when you visit or use our website and related services.

We believe privacy should be understandable, practical and built into the platform from the beginning.

Effective date: August 30, 2026

YOUR PRIVACY

What you should know about your information.

The sections below explain what information may be processed, why it may be used and the choices available to you.

01

Who we are

VERIFY BEFORE YOU TRUST is a globally accessible cybersecurity awareness, education and guidance platform.

The platform exists to help people make safer digital decisions when pressure is real, information is uncertain and technical language is difficult to understand.

Our approach includes practical situations encountered in Nigeria and across Africa while also addressing digital-security challenges that affect people around the world.

The platform combines learning, verification tools, simulations, emergency guidance, incident organization and human consultancy. Its central principle is simple: when the consequences matter, verify before you trust.

02

Information we collect

The information we collect depends on how you use the platform. We aim to collect information that is reasonably necessary for the relevant service or purpose.

Information you provide

This may include information you voluntarily provide when you:

  • create or use an account;
  • submit a consultation or contact request;
  • request cybersecurity guidance;
  • communicate with us;
  • complete an assessment or other platform activity;
  • submit information through forms or other features.

Depending on the service, this information may include your name, email address, telephone number, service requested and information contained in your message or submission.

Technical information

When you use the website, certain technical information may be processed automatically by the website or its hosting, security and infrastructure services. This may include information such as browser type, device information, IP address, pages visited and technical event information.

The precise information processed may depend on the features and third-party services active on the platform.

03

Information you should never send us

Never send us authentication secrets.

VERIFY BEFORE YOU TRUST will never legitimately require you to submit your password, PIN, one-time password (OTP), recovery phrase, seed phrase, private key or similar authentication secret.

If you are reporting a security incident, describe what happened without including information that could give another person access to your accounts, devices or assets.

If you accidentally submit sensitive authentication information, contact us as soon as possible so that we can take appropriate measures.

04

Consultation and support requests

If you submit a consultation, support or service request, we may collect the information necessary to understand your request, contact you and provide or arrange the requested service.

We may use information from a request to communicate with you about that request, provide relevant guidance, maintain appropriate business records and improve our services.

Security incidents can contain sensitive information. Please provide only information that is necessary to explain the issue.

05

Link Checker

Our Link Checker may allow you to submit a URL for security-oriented analysis or guidance.

Based on the current platform design, submitted URLs are not currently saved to the application's Supabase database as a user-accessible history.

Technical systems involved in operating, securing or troubleshooting the service may nevertheless process limited technical information associated with a request.

Important
Never submit a password-protected private link, authentication token, session token or other secret as part of a URL you submit for checking.
06

How we use information

Information may be used to:

  • provide and operate the website and its services;
  • respond to enquiries and service requests;
  • provide cybersecurity awareness and guidance;
  • maintain website security and prevent abuse;
  • troubleshoot technical problems;
  • improve the platform and user experience;
  • communicate important service information;
  • meet applicable legal or regulatory obligations.

We do not intend to collect personal information simply because it is available. Our objective is to give collected information a clear and legitimate purpose.

07

Legal basis for processing

Where applicable, personal information is processed on a lawful basis recognized by the privacy and data-protection laws that apply to the relevant processing activity.

Depending on the circumstances, this may include consent, taking steps at your request, providing a service, pursuing legitimate interests, complying with a legal obligation or another lawful basis permitted by applicable law.

Where processing is based on consent, you may have the right to withdraw that consent, subject to applicable legal limitations.

08

How we protect information

We use reasonable technical and organizational measures intended to protect personal information against unauthorized access, loss, misuse, alteration or disclosure.

These measures may include:

  • access controls;
  • secure application architecture;
  • appropriate authentication controls;
  • database security controls;
  • Row Level Security where applicable;
  • limited access based on operational need;
  • security maintenance and monitoring.

No internet-connected system can be guaranteed to be completely secure. We therefore also encourage users to maintain strong security practices on their own devices and accounts.

09

When information may be shared

We do not sell your personal information.

Information may be disclosed or made available where reasonably necessary to operate the platform, provide requested services, protect the website, comply with legal obligations or respond to lawful requests.

Where third-party service providers process information on our behalf, we aim to use appropriate contractual, technical and organizational safeguards.

10

Third-party services

Parts of the platform may rely on third-party technology providers for services such as hosting, databases, authentication, email delivery, security, analytics or other infrastructure.

These providers may process information as necessary to provide their services to us. Their processing may also be governed by their own privacy policies and applicable contractual obligations.

The specific providers used by the production platform may change as the website develops.

11

Data retention

We retain personal information only for as long as reasonably necessary for the purpose for which it was collected, to provide services, maintain appropriate records, resolve disputes, protect the platform or comply with legal obligations.

Retention periods may differ depending on the type of information and the reason it was collected.

Where information is no longer required and there is no lawful reason to retain it, we aim to securely delete or anonymize it.

12

Your privacy rights

Depending on applicable law and the circumstances of the processing, you may have rights concerning your personal information.

These may include the right to:

  • know how your information is being processed;
  • request access to personal information we hold about you;
  • request correction of inaccurate information;
  • request deletion where applicable;
  • object to certain processing;
  • request restriction of processing where applicable;
  • withdraw consent where processing is based on consent;
  • exercise other rights provided by applicable law.

Some rights are subject to legal exceptions and conditions.

13

Cookies and similar technologies

The website may use cookies or similar technologies that are necessary for functionality, security, preferences or other legitimate purposes.

Where non-essential cookies or similar technologies are introduced, we will provide appropriate information and choices where required by applicable law.

You can also manage certain cookie settings through your browser or device.

14

Children's privacy

Our services are not designed to encourage children to provide sensitive personal information.

If you believe that a child has provided personal information to us in circumstances where this should not have occurred, please contact us so that we can review the situation and take appropriate action.

15

International processing

Because VERIFY BEFORE YOU TRUST is globally accessible, some technology providers used by the platform may process or store information outside Nigeria or outside the country in which you are located.

Where applicable, we will take reasonable steps to ensure that international transfers and related processing are handled in accordance with applicable data-protection requirements.

16

We may update this Privacy Policy as the platform, services, technology or applicable legal requirements change.

When we make material changes, we will take reasonable steps to make the updated policy noticeable on the website.
