SECURE YOUR WISE ACCOUNT

Secure your Wise Account.

Work through these protections one at a time. After making a change, verify that the protection is actually active.

Your Wise Account protects more than a login.

It can be connected to transfers, cards, recipients, personal information and other financial activity.

Wise also provides a dedicated Secure your accountfeature for situations where you suspect your account has been compromised.

WISE ACCOUNT SECURITY

Work through these protections one at a time.

Wise features can vary by account, device and location. Use the security area shown in your own Wise app or account and verify each protection after setting it up.

Turn on strong two-step verification

Verify the website or app before signing in

Fake Wise login pages can steal passwords and 2-step verification information.

Step-by-step

  1. Use the official Wise app downloaded from a legitimate app store.
  2. If using a browser, navigate to wise.com directly rather than following an unexpected login link.
  3. Be cautious with links received through SMS, email, WhatsApp or social media.
  4. Do not enter your Wise password or verification information into a website whose address you have not independently verified.
  5. Be cautious of sponsored search results or advertisements that imitate Wise.
  6. If you are unsure, close the page and open Wise through your normal trusted method.

VERIFY: Before entering credentials, confirm that you are using the legitimate Wise app or the official wise.com website.

Verify recipients before sending money

Step-by-step

  1. Stop before confirming the transfer.
  2. Check the recipient.
  3. Check the account details.
  4. Check the amount and currency.

  8. If you are unsure about the recipient, stop and investigate before sending.

VERIFY: Before approving the transfer, confirm that the recipient, account details, amount and currency are exactly what you intended.

Be careful with Wise impersonation calls

Scammers may pretend to be Wise employees and try to make you move money, approve transactions or reveal sensitive information.

Step-by-step

  1. Treat an unexpected call claiming to be from Wise as something to verify.
  2. Check whether Wise displays the appropriate in-app call verification notification when applicable.

A modified device can weaken security protections and expose the Wise account and other sensitive accounts.

Step-by-step

  1. Pay attention if Wise warns that your device has a security issue.
  2. Determine whether the device has been rooted on Android or jailbroken on iOS.
  3. Do not ignore a security warning simply because the Wise app still opens.
  4. Restore the device's normal security configuration using the appropriate official device-recovery process.
  5. If you did not modify the device yourself, investigate why its security features were changed.
  6. Avoid using a compromised or modified device for sensitive financial activity until its security has been restored.

VERIFY: Confirm that the device's security protections have been restored before continuing sensitive Wise activity.

  6. Confirm that 2-step verification is enabled and updated.
  7. Contact Wise immediately through its official support process if you believe money or account access is at risk.
